It’s the day of love and NRS and WB have decided to open some of the flood gates and show off some brand new characters for the most anticipated fighting game of 2017. Swamp Thing, Poison Ivy, Cheetah, and Catwoman join the fight this May. Now to break down these trailers.

Now to give you some more back round on me, Swamp Thing is one of my favorite characters of all time. Alan Moore’s run is an all time classic and I never thought in a million years that Swamp Thing would be playable in a kick ass fighting game. NRS has pulled so much from the comics that it had me pumping my fists in the air. His speech pattern is almost exactly how Swamp Thing’s wordballons depict, and ability to tap into the Green for various combos makes him look more unique than any fighter to date. I also love that his victory screen is Swamp Thing spreading his wings as a reference to Scott Synder’s run on the character. In addition it looks like we a get stage set in the bayou and while I didn’t notice anything initially I’m hoping we see a reference to Anton Arcane or Abigail Arcane. It goes without saying that I’ve found my main for the game. Let Green reign baby.

Fitting that on Valentines Day, NRS releases its second trailer featuring the notorious femme fatales in the DCU. The two newest additions being Poison Ivy and Cheetah. Focusing first on Poison Ivy I love that she retains sex appeal and allure that she maintains in the comics, even down to how she talks to her opponents. While yes she’s another Batman villain but given her unique play style I’m willing to let it pass. I’m pleasantly surprised that Cheetah has made her way to the main roster as she’s Wonder Woman’s most iconic baddie. I love that she’s going to the be the feral character for the game as I feel the game needed someone like that. I’ll try her out but I doubt I’ll stick with her. As for Catwoman, not much was shown here but I’m glad she’s back and now Gotham Sirens fans can rejoice as the entire team is part of the game.
