Now I know last week I wasn’t exactly kind to Sony’s endeavors. However just like any fan, whenever I hear character X is going to get a movie, my attitude is going to change. This of course applies to the fact that¬†Silk is getting her own movie! Yes Cindy Moon is getting a shot at the big screen. Will it connect to the MCU? Will it connect to Sony’s other movies? Read further on for my thoughts on Silk The Movie!

Doesn’t Have To Be Connected

I know that text above might be sacrilegious, but I honestly don’t want Silk to connect to anything. Is that me being selfish? Perhaps, and before I continue I’m not saying she should exist in a world that Spider-Man didn’t have a influence in her origin. I’m saying that Cindy’s story should be ambiguous in her connections to a larger universe. I love what Marvel/Disney has done with the shared universe concept but it’s clear that no other studio can capture the same magic. Silk can reference Spider-Man, but not be specific to what Spider-Man it may happen to be.

What Type Of Film Will It Be?

As of right now, this movie doesn’t even exist. We have no director, writers, or cast listed. While I would love for Cindy Moon to get a live action movie, something in my gut tells me that won’t be the case. The safer bet for a character this new is to make a animated movie, a cheaper alternative. Perhaps Sony is waiting to see how the Miles Morales animated feature does before fully committing to this new project. At the end of the day, I want this movie to be made no matter what. Cindy Moon was the best thing to come out of Dan Slott’s run on Amazing Spider-Man. Hopefully she’ll take the world by storm like Miles Morales did.
