Man of Steel 2 Confirmed from Warner Brothers

by | Aug 9, 2016

Despite the critics panning both Batman V. Superman and the recently released Suicide Squad, Warner Brothers marches towards their own cinematic universe. In light of the success of Suicide Squad, Man of Steel 2 (working title) is now in active development. Before reading further on, I warn you there will be spoilers from Batman V.Superman. If you haven’t seen the film and hate spoilers I highly suggest to watch the movie first before reading on.

Even though Man of Steel made a sizeable amount of money from the 2013 reboot of the Superman franchise, it obviously didn’t impress the executives at Warner Brothers enough to immediately green light a solo sequel but instead the meeting of two titans that was Dawn of Justice. Despite Superman’s apparent death by the hands of Doomsday in the climatic finale of DoJ, it doesn’t come as a shock to anyone that Superman will rise in either the first or second Justice League movie.
There is no actual confirmation via the wrap on the release of said sequel and despite the optimism that some fans of expressing they may end up waiting even longer for a solo film starring the Last Son of Krypton.
While a Man of Steel 2 is a pipe dream at this juncture and I know that I’ll have to wait a while before seeing a solo Superman story again knowing that WB is committed to the idea fills me with joy. I’m in the small minority that happened to enjoy what Zach Synder particularly did with the mythology of Superman and bringing it to the modern day in our world filled with fears that were unknown in 1938, but this take clearly didn’t gel with main stream audiences enough for Henry Cavill’s performance as the Man of Steel to firmly take hold. Back in May, Ben Affleck to on a bigger role for the upcoming Justice League movie and Synder seemingly on the way out, this might be a chance for WB to reboot the biggest gun in the DCCU, and given Dawn of Justice’s poor reception of Superman it
Hopefully Man of Steel 2 will actually give us something that we haven’t seen in a Superman film before, I’m honestly pulling for Branianc to finally make his big screen debut. A battle of brains vs. brawns an opportunity to have Superman use something else other than his muscle to solve problems. Let me know what are your expectations for Man of Steel 2. Who should direct? Who should the villain be? What story arc should the movie be based off? I’m curious to hear your thoughts!
