Ninjak Vs. The Valiant Universe Trailer! Plus Other Thoughts

by | Oct 14, 2016

New York Comic has been over for quite sometime now, but out all the news that circulated out the convention was the teaser trailer for Ninjak Vs. The Valiant Universe. A few weeks ago, we got our first look at Ninjak in live action but now Valiant has given it’s fans and potential fans it’s first look at their own cinematic universe.

Before I go any further, while I am on the hype train after watching this trailer I am not that well versed with Valiant’s universe, yet once I saw Bloodshot, The Eternal Warrior, Archer & Armstrong, Ninjak and a surprise appearance from X-O Manowar it opened my eyes a bit more to Valiant’s relaunch dating back to 2012. I currently only read Ninjak (hence the excitement) yet I was able to recognize most of the characters that appeared without looking it up online.
It’s a testament to Valiant they have created such a unique and diverse cast with such memorable costume designs. Not only that but to be able to translate those designs into live action yet keeping what gives the characters their iconic look.
When I first heard this trailer existed, given that this will be a web series I wasn’t going to get my hopes up for high production values. Needless to say I was shocked on how polished and well shot the sets, and just how explosive this series will be. If I’m going to compare this to Marvel’s Netflix show and DC’s line of CW shows and feel free to disagree with me, but quality wise it’s right in the middle between both of those sets of shows. At least it doesn’t look like season 1 of Powers via Playstation looked like. I also admire the boldness of how bombastic this web series seems to be, the people running this know what kinda characters they are dealing with and it’s clear they want to deliver an thrilling product.
The only real nitpick I have with the trailer is that Michael Rowe doesn’t appear to have a British accent. That could be due to him being held at knife point by his nemesis Roku (no not that device you give your parents to cut their cable) but I hope I’m wrong. This web series will officially be six episodes, with a 2017 release date. Rest assured I’ll be keeping up with this project as more information comes out.
