Wholesome Palate Cleanser
If I could sum up Ant-Man and The Wasp in one word, it would be wholesome. This isn’t a movie that will shatter your expectations, nor will it blow your mind with it’s amazing visual effects. At it’s core this film is pretty basic and flimsy at best. The motivation for our protagonist isn’t made completely clear and certain characters ultimately contribute nothing despite the amount of screen time they’re given. Despite all that, I couldn’t but smile from start to finish. This movie was a welcomed breath of fresh air. Ultimately this might hurt the film in the long run, but personally I know that I’ll gladly revisit this film again.
Evangeline Lily Is The MVP
Even though this film is called Ant-Man and The Wasp, it’s pretty clear from the start that Hope Van Dyne is the star of this movie. While I loved Hope’s moments of being a pure badass, it’s her tender moments with Hank that me me appreciate her more as a character. She’s nails her comedic timing and her chemistry with Paul Rudd and Michael Douglass is impeccable. She is the anchor that holds this film together as it loosely led plot progresses along. I hope this film leads to her becoming a member of the Avengers after Avengers 4
While some might see this film as pure filler as we patiently wait for Avengers 4, this was enjoyable filler. I promise that you’ll have a great time at the movies.
Ant-Man & The Wasp gets a 3/5
